A lot of people think that living in a condo means you don’t have space for a garden, but based on our research those people are just plain wrong. Urban gardening is a growing trend that brings the outdoors in (or if you’re lucky enough to have a balcony, then plant there!) and allows those without a backyard to grow their own herbs, flowers, and plants.
These are some of our favourite (and easy) urban garden ideas that we think you should try at home.

Terrarium Terrariums are perfect if you want to spruce up your place but don’t want to do a ton of maintenance. They usually consist of rocks, moss, and air plants that only need to be sprayed about once a week. We also love that they come in all shapes and sizes.

Stacked Herb Garden The easiest way to make your own stacked herb garden is to get three or four flower pots that are different sizes and would properly stack on top of each other. Fill each pot with soil, plant your herbs along the edge of the pot, stack the next smallest pot on top of that, and repeat. Make sure you label them! This is a great idea if you have a balcony.

Mason Jar Herb Garden This might be the easiest urban garden of them all! Everyone has mason jars laying around the house, so grab a few of them, fill them with soil, and choose your herbs! You can find fun ways to mark them too, like using tags or chalkboard-style labels. You can put your mason jars inside or outside, just don’t forget to water them!

Shoe Organizer Remember those over-the-door shoe organizers? If you’ve still got one hanging around (preferably cloth) then you’re in luck. This is a great way to grow a ton of flowers or herbs on your balcony without taking up too much space. If you fill each pocket with soil and seeds, you’ll eventually have one huge, stacked garden growing out of it!
